System and Hidden Files Backup

All files in the following folders are considered as system or hidden even if they do not have System or Hidden attributes:

  • %windir%
  • %SystemRoot%
  • %TMP%
  • %TEMP%

By default, such files and folders are excluded from the backups.

In case you are planning to include such files to the backup scope, you have the following options:

  • Enable system and hidden files backup
  • Back up selected specific system and hidden files only

To enable backup of files and folders with System or Hidden attributes, proceed as follows:

  1. Create or edit the backup plan that contains system or hidden files that are required to back up.
  2. Follow the backup wizard to the Advanced Filter step, then unselect the Do not back up system and hidden files check box.

To back up specific files and folders with System or Hidden attributes, proceed as follows:

  1. Create or edit the backup plan that contains specific system or hidden files that are required to back up.
  2. Follow the backup wizard to the Advanced Filter step, then select the Do not back up system and hidden files check box.
  3. On the What to Backup step of the backup wizard make a direct selection of the files or folders you want to back up. In this case, the selected files and folders will be forcibly included in the backup plan, regardless of their attributes.

Online Backup data and log files that do not have System or Hidden attributes are always excluded from a backup plan
