Backup Storage Browser (Beta)

As of Managed Backup version 7.0, Management Console features the backup storage browsing functionality. You can see all backups on all computers, perform item-level restore, and delete the backup data. This functionality is available for computers running Windows in beta version.

To use backup storage browser for selected backup storage, on Backup > Computers click any online computer. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below any backup storage tile.

Dy design, you can view all backups on all computers/backup prefixes that are available for you. To view the backup content select a computer, a backup plan or a generation in the left pane for detailed view. Refer to Backup Plan Explained chapter in case you need some explanation. You can select desired backup storage above the right pane.

To see the backup content , turn off the **View backups of all computers switch.

To return on Backup > Computers page, click Go to the Backup Storage List link.

View Backup Content for Selected Computer/Prefix

To manage backup content on a computer, perform the following:

  1. On Backup > Computers click the online computer you want browse backup content.
  2. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below the tile of the backup storage containing the data to browse.
  3. (Optional). Turn off the View backups of all computers switch in case you have multiple computers for more convenient browsing. You can turn it on back whenewer you want.
  4. Click the computer/prefix (backup prefixes usually match the computer names) to see the backup content for it.

  1. Click the backup plan in which you want to browse backup data.

Restore With Quick Restore Application

  1. On Backup > Computers click the online computer you want to restore backup content for.
  2. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below the tile of the backup storage containing the data to restore.
  3. Click the computer to see the backup content for it.
  4. Click the restore icon next to the backup plan to use Quick Restore application.
  5. Download and install Quick Restore Application, if it is not already installed.
  6. Open Quick Restore application to perform restore as described here.

Restore on Restore Points

  1. On Backup > Computers click the online computer you want to restore backup content for.
  2. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below the tile of the backup storage containing the data to restore.
  3. Click the computer to see the backup content for it.
  4. Click the generation containing the restore point.
  5. Click the restore icon next to the required backup plan run.
  6. Select the restore destination: local computer or the online source computer. You cannot perform restore to the offline computer.

  1. Click Restore. The restore will start.

Item-Level Restore

  1. On Backup > Computers click the online computer you want manage backup content for.
  2. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below the tile of the backup storage containing the data to restore.
  3. Click the computer to see the backup content for it.
  4. Click the backup plan in which you want to restore the backup data item.
  5. Click the generation containing the item.
  6. To perform item-level restore, expand the generation to see full or incremental backup plan runs inside.
  7. Navigate to required items and select them.

  1. Click Restore button.
  2. Select the restore destination: local computer or the online source computer. You cannot perform restore to the offline computer.

  1. Click Restore. The restore of required item will start.

Delete Generations

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is required to delete generations.

You can delete selected generation, if deletion operation is available for this generation. Consider, the current generation and generations protected with Object Lock (Immutability) cannot be deleted. In case the current generation has only backups with warning, the deletion operation will also be unavailable for the previous one. The reason is to always ensure that the backup has valid restore points.

  1. On Backup > Computers click the online computer you want manage backup content for.
  2. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below the tile of the backup storage containing the generation to delete.
  3. Click the computer to see the backup content for it.
  4. Click the backup plan in which you want to delete generation.
  5. Select the generation you want to delete.
  6. Click deletion button in the generation grid entry and confirm the deletion.

Delete Backups

  1. On Backup > Computers click the online computer you want manage plans for.
  2. On Backup Storage tab, click Open in browser button below the tile of the backup storage containing the plan to delete.
  3. Click the computer to see the backup content for it.
  4. Click the backup plan to delete backup plan for.
  5. Select the backup plan and click deletion button next to the plan entry. Confirm the deletion.
