Understanding GB-Days in Your Invoice from Wasabi
What Is a GB-Day?
A GB-day is a billing unit used by many cloud storage providers, including Wasabi, to calculate storage costs based on actual daily usage.
1 GB-day = 1 GB of data stored for 1 day
This allows for precise, usage-based billing that reflects changes in your storage amount throughout the month. In your monthly invoice you may notice the following:
- Unit Cost. This is per-day price per GB.
- Quantity. The sum of daily GB usage for the full month (this may appear confusing at first).
This format matches Wasabi’s pricing model and ensures accurate billing for dynamically changing storage.
Why Do You See GB-Day Pricing?
Instead of charging a flat monthly fee upfront, Wasabi charges per GB per day, then totals the cost at the end of the month. For example:
Wasabi’s rate: $0.00019499415 per GB per day
1 TB = 1024 GB
30 days of 1 TB usage
0.00019499415 × 30 × 1024 = ~$5.99 per month
This matches Wasabi’s advertised rate of $5.99 per TB per month, just calculated daily.

Storage Cost Settings
To enable cost tracking based on actual storage usage or restore volume, configure the Backup and Restore cost values. These values are required to calculate billing and generate invoices. You can configure them from Backup > Storage Accounts.
- On Backup > Storage Accounts, select your Wasabi storage account..
- Expand the gear icon in the end of the row and select Storage Cost Settings.
- Complete the Price and Cost values for Backup (Plan Cost) and Restore (Restore Cost). If necessary, you can set custom price for specific company or for specific user (subscriber), using the Add Custom price by Company or Add Custom Price by User buttons.
Consider, storage pricing in this interface is shown per GB per month, not per day.
To configure monthly pricing for your customers, for example:
Daily rate × 30 days = Monthly rate
For Wasabi: 0.00019499415 × 30 = 0.0058498245
Due to rounding limits (currently 3 decimal digits), you’ll see:
0.006 as the closest available monthly GB price here
This is a known limitation, and we are considering updates to support more precise rates.
