Limitations of RMM Community Edition

RMM Community Edition is a free edition of RMM for managed service providers (MSPs). This article describes who can use it, what it includes, and how to upgrade to a paid license.

Eligibility

RMM Community Edition is available only to MSPs. To be eligible, your account must meet both of these conditions:

• Your account is registered as an MSP. Business accounts can use RMM only in trial or paid mode.
• You have never purchased an RMM license. RMM trials do not affect eligibility.

Managed Backup checks the MSP status of accounts that use Community Edition. If an account is not an MSP, Community Edition is removed and the account is switched to an RMM trial.

If you need to monitor more than 100 endpoints, contact support. In some cases, the endpoint limit can be increased.

RMM API is not available if you are using RMM Community Edition. You need a trial or paid RMM licenses to use API.

Upgrading to a Paid License

To monitor more than 100 endpoints without a custom limit or use RMM API, purchase RMM paid licenses. Paid licenses are assigned per endpoint.

Note that you can switch from Community Edition only to paid mode. Once you are using Community Edition, you cannot start an RMM trial.
